PATENT COOPERATION TREATY (PCT) INTERNATIONAL APPLICATION
A PCT international application may be filed with the USPTO, as receiving office for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), within one year of filing a provisional patent application, or a utility application without the priority of a provisional application, in the US. The PCT international application may preserve your US priority date as the priority date for subsequently-filed foreign national and regional patent applications. Filing fees depend upon the factual situation of each filing, with an approximate filing fee of $3,237, and potentially significant expense thereafter to obtain various foreign national and regional patents. Attorney's fees for converting a patent application to a PCT international application begin at $1,500.
